Dear Friends,

Our church has entrusted the Search Committee with the responsibility of selecting an associate minister for your approval. After many meetings and much prayer, the Search Committee has voted to recommend that the First Congregational Church of Darien call Shannon Wall to be our next Associate Minister.

Since joining our church in September as Acting Associate Minister, Shannon has provided compassionate pastoral care along with thought-provoking sermons. She also helped to facilitate the confirmation process. Warm, kind, caring, open, positive, and a quick study are just some of the words that have been used to describe Shannon. We believe that she will be a wonderful addition to our church community.

Shannon graduated Phi Beta Kappa from William & Mary College with a B.A. in English. She received a Masters of Fine Arts degree from New York University, and later this month she will receive her Masters of Divinity degree from Yale University. At Yale, she was awarded the William E. Downes Prize for "proficiency in public reading of Scriptures" and has taught workshops in reading Scripture in worship.

Shannon lives in Wilton with her husband Larry Arno and her son Jack. She enjoys reading, writing, travel, cooking, needlepoint, and crossword puzzles.

On Sunday, May 18, we Will have the opportunity to worship with Shannon . Following the 10:00 o'clock service, there will be a special church meeting for the purpose of answering questions and voting on Shannon as our new associate minister. We urge you to attend both of these events and be part of this important decision.

If you have any questions in the meantime, please do not hesitate to call (656.6604) or email Debra Hertz.

We remain sincerely yours, Search Committee Members
