The confirmation process at the First Congregational Church of Darien is based on the idea that one cannot teach faith the way one teaches math, reading, or science; instead one teaches toward faith.  The program is run by Youth Minister Wendy Mulligan and Acting Associate Minister Shannon Rye Wall.

The confirmation program is comprised of four parts specifically designed to teach toward faith in rich and diverse ways.  The four elements are class meetings, community service projects, service and participation in the life of the Church, and building a mentor relationship with an adult church member.

The confirmation class is generally comprised of 8th grade students, with some students participating from other grades.
