2009 Summer Mission Trip

Pittsburgh Rocked -- Mission Trip 2009Staying relatively close to home this year, we sent a group of 18 students and 5 chaperones to help rebuild and repair homes for the elderly and isolated residents in urban Pittsburgh. Projects included painting, dry walling, carpentry, and yard work, as well as minor plumbing and masonry tasks, building wheelchair ramps, fortifying retaining walls, and replacing doors, floors, and windows. It was a week filled with much hard work and tons of fun.Over 250 high school youth from around the country participated in the Service Camp during the week of June 21-27 and as you can imagine, when that many youth come together ... fun and hilarity followed! Many new friendships were made and our group spent time discovering and appreciating our faith.Here are just a few pictures of our group during their down time. We are assembling a slide show and video of the work we did and will be sharing this with the congregation on Sunday, October 4 in a Youth-led service. Stay tuned for more!
