Lawrence R. Wood -- Senior Minister
Reverend Lawrence R. Wood became the 22nd senior minister in the church’s 272-year history on October 15, 2007.
Rev. Wood was ordained in 1992, and most recently served as Senior Pastor at Fremont United Methodist Church in Fremont, Michigan . He was raised in the United Church of Christ and has privileges as a UCC minister. He has published two books: A One Hundred Tons of Ice (published in 2003) and News to Me (Published in 2008). He also publishes frequently in The Christian Century.
Rev. Wood earned a B.A. in English literature from Northwestern University and a Masters of Divinity from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary (which is on the campus of Northwestern University ). He is currently a Doctor of Ministry candidate at Princeton Theological Seminary.
Rev. Wood and his wife, Rexene, have a daughter, Hannah.
Acting Associate Minister Shannon Wall
Shannon is currently a student at Yale Divinity School, where she will finish her courses next spring. Shannon's duties include leading the religious education program (supervising the Youth Program and Church School Programs, leading Confirmation, and adult education programs), and sharing in the preaching and providing part of the pastoral care. Shannon has a wealth of experience in prior work as a teacher, a management consultant and a writer.
